Wales won the competition for the first time in 1893 achieving the Triple Crown in the process. They are the second most successful team in the history of the tournament having won it outright 24 times and shared the trophy 11 times. The Welsh won their first Five Nations Grand Slam in 1911, and in 2005 they accomplished the feat for the first time in the 6 Nations era and repeated this feat in 2008 as well. Wales’ longest period without a championship victory has been 11 years (the shorted for any team) between 1994 and 2005.
